Stacey Kennedy - Rock Star review

A high school reunion is about to get down and dirty
and a whole lot more complicated!

ROCK STAR
A Bad Boy Homecoming Novel
Stacey Kennedy
Releasing June 27, 2017

A high school reunion is about to get down and dirty and a whole lot more complicated in this new erotic romance from USA Today bestselling author Stacey Kennedy.

Veterinarian, Rae Evans expects to attend a dreadful ten-year high school reunion. Instead, she’s confronted by a past she’s never gotten over. The love of her life, Travis Walker, has returned to Catfish Creek, and the now-famous rock star wants only three things: Her. Naked. And screaming his name.

Fresh off his last world tour, Travis has returned to town to get a dose of reality. With fame casting a superficial cloud over Travis’s life, he’s scrambling to stay afloat. He needs an anchor, and Rae is that for him. But as he finds himself, he’s determined to remind Rae of the heat that once burned between them.

Before they know it, their one hot night is three, and soon, just like ten years ago, Travis holds the strings to Rae’s heart. But Rae’s not that young girl who watched her high school sweetheart race off to become famous. She’s a woman who knows what she wants and realizes when a man needs her. She just has to decide if she should put the past on repeat, or walk away from it forever.

My Review

This is my first Stacey Kennedy book, but far from my last! I was completed captivated by Rae and Travis. They were each other's first love and life separated them. Travis' life isn't all that he expected it to be and he has to deal with some things because of the music. He's tired of it. Rae has had to get over Travis and try to move on. When he shows up at their high school reunion, she doesn't know if she can do it again but their pull toward each other is strong. This was a fast read for me and one I finished in 1 sitting. I literally couldn't put it down.  I wanted to wrap myself in Stacey's words and not let go! I loved the rock star aspect of this story and the small town feel from their hometown. I loved the emotions and the feels she took this couple through.  And now I want to buy all the other books in this series because they are all connected by a high school reunion! I think this is a fantastic idea and very interesting. Who's ready for a smoking hot rock star and a sweet story!? What are you waiting for? One-click your copy now!

MY REVIEW

This book picked up where Lost Without You left off. We actually get to see some of the end of that book from Tommy's eyes. I was on pins and needles, holding my breath while reading this book! I devoured it and didn't want it to be over.  Things aren't looking so great for Tommy and Beth. And there are still secrets between them that can change the game.  OH MY! And even though we didn't see her as much as the first book, Pest is still my favorite little pup!
I loved the push/pull between Tommy and Beth and even when they were unsure of the way they were feeling they couldn't deny it.  Their chemistry was SUPER HOT! They were learning things about themselves. Tommy had always closed himself off to others, but he couldn't be like that with Beth. She was different and she meant something to him.  Beth had been hiding for years and Tommy helped her let go.  Their journey was sad, bittersweet and oh-so-sweet! Molly writes angst and deep emotions so well and this is a book that will stay with the reader long after The End. And speaking of ending, this one is a doozy! haha  I HIGHLY recommend this read and you must read Lost Without You before reading Where I Belong!

READ AN EXCERPT NOW:

“What do you want, Tommy?” she breathed. So close. So beautiful. With her free hand she took off her glasses and tossed them on the ground. Her eyes, lined in black liner raked over me. And mine raked over her. “You,” I said, so raw I was practically inside out. “Just once.” She laughed low in her throat. “You have a few questions you want answered, do you?” she asked. “Don’t you?” “God yes.” She stepped forward until she was nearly touching me. It took my inhale for my chest to brush hers. I exhaled and our bodies retreated. She inhaled and we touched. Exhaled and retreated. We each did it again. And then again. Breathing each other in, in turns. Finally it wasn’t enough and I stepped toward her, and my cock pressed against her stomach and she pushed against me. Her breasts and belly imprinted on my skin. “One time,” she said. “One time and we go back to our lives and get on with things. I’m going to forget you, Tommy. And you’re going to forget me.” I doubted it, but I wasn’t going to argue. Not with my dick pushed up against the tight muscles of her stomach. Not with her breath, sweet from the pop and the candy she’d eaten, making me crazy. “I’m serious, Tommy,” she said as if she could read my mind. “I don’t want to be hurt anymore, and I really, really don’t want to hurt you anymore. Promise you’ll forget me.” “I promise,” I said, because when threatened with the idea of hurting her, I’d agree to anything to stop that. “I’ll forget you, right after I fuck you.”

Lexi Blake - Revenge review and excerpt

Lexi Blake KILLED it with this book! This is the 3rd book in this series, and yes, you must read these in order or it won't make sense to you. I have been anxiously awaiting Drew's book and I enjoyed the twists and the turns and the heat that only Lexi Blake can bring!

This book picks up where Satisfaction left off. Drew knows things about what happened to his family that he wants to protect them from. He's on a search for  someone and he needs the help from an investigative reporter that he happens to be attracted to. Drew had to grow up fast and he's always had his head in code. He's a little bit awkward, but a lot hot and doesn't sugar coat things. He will stop at nothing to protect his family.

Shelby is by herself in the world. She doesn't have anything to lose and will go after whatever story she is working on. She digs up the dirt and isn't too worried about the dangers that comes with her job. Like Drew, she's ruthless when she's on the search for the truth.

When they first crossed paths, Drew was an asshole (which is his MO) to Shelby and yet, they were drawn to each other. He decided he could use her for his purposes, so he brings her into the fold. However, he wasn't expecting Shelby to be exactly what he needed! She was strong, independent and stood up for what was right and those she cared about. She stood up to Drew and didn't let him get away with the things his family let him get away with. She was his safe haven and it was delicious to watch.

I loved watching Drew and Shelby fall for each other. Their passion and love was palpable through the pages. The element of danger was real for them throughout the book and I was constantly holding my breath, waiting for what happened next. Some of the twists in the story were expected, others were not. This was an absolute all-around FANTASTIC read and it was a great ending for the Lawless series! Bravo Ms. Blake, you have outdone yourself with this book!  Go grab your copy today, or start this first book in the series, Ruthless.

Passion and danger collide in the latest contemporary romance featuring the Lawless siblings—from New York Times bestselling author Lexi Blake.

When Drew Lawless discovers a fatal flaw in his plan to avenge his parents’ deaths, he turns to the one woman he promised he wouldn't touch. He offers her a deal, one that will bring her into his investigation, his life, and his bed.

Investigative reporter Shelby Gates never dreamed how twisted the case would become—or how fascinated she would be with Drew. Every day they spend together binds them. And every night brings her closer to realizing he might be the man for her.

As Drew's feelings for Shelby grow, so does the danger. From the streets of Dallas to Austin’s high-tech business world, Drew and Shelby play a game begun twenty years before—a game they will win, or die trying.

Blogger Excerpt

“I suppose we’re going to be seeing Carly and Bran while we’re in Dallas next week.”

She had one week to get comfortable around Drew. One week to figure out if she could actually sell this cover to his family.

“It would seem odd if I didn’t pay them a visit. Bran knows I have a meeting with Taggart scheduled. We’ll be in Dallas for two days. Dinner with Bran and Carly and Mia and Case has already been planned.”

“Exactly. And you don’t want to raise a bunch of questions. So I was thinking it might be smarter for me to get my own hotel room. I can lay low and they don’t have to know I’m in town.” She’d sat up for a good portion of the night doing two things: thinking about how much she’d wanted to kiss Drew Lawless and then freaking out about it because that was a bad idea. Beware of billionaires with six-pack abs. It was her new mantra. Yes, she’d signed the contract last night, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t reason with her new . . . boss . . . partner . . . whatever he was.

“I told Bran you’re coming with me.”

This was exactly what she’d worried about. “You told him? I thought I would have more time. How am I going to explain this to Carly? I think she’ll wonder why one of her closest friends didn’t mention she was dating her future brother-in-law.”

“I’ve already explained it. We wanted to make sure it was real before we went public. It’s that simple. We met in Los Angeles. I contacted you. We went on a few dates and we’ve been talking a lot. You’ve come out to Austin because we’re contemplating moving in together. This is a trial run,” he said calmly, as though he hadn’t upended her entire life. “Also, I asked Bran not to mention it to Carly because you would rather tell her yourself. It was a safe bet Bran wouldn’t ask too many questions, but Carly will want to know everything. It’s why we need to get our stories straight.”

She focused on the words that messed with her life. “Moving in together? You told them we’re thinking of moving in together?”

“How else was I supposed to explain it when all your belongings arrive here?”
“What?” She winced because the words had come out in a screech. “I’m having your things packed up as we speak. They’ll be here in a few days.”

“Why the hell would you do that?” How was she going to get everything back to LA?

Drew relaxed again as though he’d already gone over this argument in his mind and knew he would win. “I wanted you to be comfortable. This is going to be a full-time job, and not a quick one. I suspect we’ll have to keep up our ruse for at least six months. Potentially a year. Also, that apartment you were living in was incredibly dangerous. Did you know it was recently condemned? The movers told me about it when they explained they were charging me extra for how fast they had to move. It’s scheduled to be demolished in two weeks.”

“What?” She stared at him. He expected her to live with him for six months to a year? Somewhere in the back of her head she’d been thinking a week or two tops, and then she’d go back to LA and work from there. Her apartment building was shitty and she was fairly certain someone cooked meth in part of it, but it was all she could afford. And it was solidly built. There had been no hint that anyone was planning on building in her part of LA. Gentrification had not reared its upscale, hipster head yet, so that left her with one very manipulative bastard. “Tell me you did not buy my apartment building and schedule it for demolition in an attempt to leave me with nowhere to go.”

He managed to look almost angelic in the soft light of morning. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

My father owes a debt.

I am his currency.

I’m supposed to marry the recently crowned mafia king of the Foley family as repayment for my father’s transgressions. I don’t understand why the Foleys would want me, but I’ve grown up in a crime family, and I know the ugly consequences of not doing what you’re told.

But as the wedding date approaches, the deal changes, and I’m about to be wed to a man I know nothing about.

In fact, I don’t even know his last name.

Instead of becoming a mafia princess, I’m marrying the henchman.

Deklan.

After one look at him, I’m not sure I’ll survive the wedding night.
